Excursion “Bran and Brasov – true beauty rich in history!”

Bran Castle is without any doubt one of most valuable medieval architectural monuments of Romania. It was built in 1382 by the inhabitants of Brasov in an impressive location on a high rock. At the beginning of the 19th century  Bram Stoker wrote a terrifying story about Count Dracula – a fictional character associated with Romanian aristocrat Vlad Tepes “The Impaler”. While the novel is a work of fiction, it is great fun to explore the place that has inspired it! The castle itself is incredibly beautiful, with the original architecture and much of the original furniture still intact – you can even see the room where “Dracula” slept… With pristine natural surroundings the views from the courtyard and balconies are breathtaking and in 2010 CNN listed Bran Castle among the most beautiful ten castles in the world. On our way back we will stop for a short walk in the historical center of Brasov and if possible a visit of the Black Church, the biggest gothic cathedral between Wien and Istanbul.

Individual Itineraries

As mentioned before, our guides are also most happy to create special itineraries for day trips or shorter excursions. We personally always like to recommend also trips to the lesser known Hungarian parts of Transylvania, for example the amazing salt mines in Turda and Praid, the most interesting countryside of the predominantly Hungarian Harghita county with its rich architecture and much more vivid traditions as well as the towns of Targu Mures and Cluj Napoca. All these places are usually much easier to discover when you are accompanied by a guide, who can initiate you to the lesser known aspects not found in guide books, which often make the difference between a great and an amazing experience! Please do not hesitate to contact us for a quote for one of your desired excursions, we would be most happy to arrange something for you!
